Neil Wootton Achievment Award

Neil Wootton

In an effort to properly honor the single most outstanding student of the year with a mark of distinction, Extrication.Com presents our coveted "Neil Wootton Achievement Award" for motor vehicle extrication. This is the highest honor that we can bestow upon a student.

About the Award

Annually Extrication.Com will award one emergency responder (fire, police, military, tow personnel)  from its 40-hour programs to receive the Extrication.Com "Outstanding Extrication Achievement Award", now know as the "Neil Wootton Award" for outstanding achievement the specialty field of motor vehicle extrication.

In an effort to recognize specially talented responders who pass through our classes it was decided to recognize the single most outstanding responder to graduate the 40-hour programs for that calendar year. Students need not fill out any entry form, nor will other students nominate an individual. The instructors observe, formulate and determine the best candidate for the award for each program. At the end of the year the nominations are reviewed to determine the award recipient and the award sent will little glamour or hoopla.

There is no big trophy or gala award ceremony in front of thousands, instead the recipient will receive a unique certificate only given to a select few of worthy recipients. The award is not politically motivated,  sponsors oriented, or a popularity vote by their peers. The only way to become a contender is through a student's own merits demonstrating their passion through a mark of excellence for extrication and compassion for their peers.

Knowing how to perform extrication well is not the only principal to be considered for the award. A student must demonstrate his passion and outstanding ability in the field of motor vehicle extrication, the willingness to assist and put the needs of his peers before their own.

In recognition of these talents, traits, outstanding professionalism while representing their agency and compassion for their peers, the single most student will only then be award the Neil Wootton Achievement Award at the end of calendar year.

Neil Wootton (Toronto ONT Fire Department) was our first achievement award recipient, having overwhelming impressed five course instructors. Never in the history of our training has a student demonstrated the qualities desirable for such an award. Wootton not only received the award, but it was determined that it only be fitting to rename the award in his name from that day forward.
