Ron Shaw, is the founder of
Extrication.Com
and primary company lead instructor holding state and national certifications as
a fire service
Extrication.Com safety articles written by Ron Shaw have been published by Firehouse Magazine, Fire Engineering, Galls, Voice, OSFM and other emergency service related publications and online periodicals. Ron Shaw is currently compiling an official Extrication.Com basic skills textbook for Jones & Bartlett Publishers due to be published in 2007. All assisting instructors hold certifications as fire service instructors and are the best supporting adjunct instructors in the industry. Extrication.Com instructors are not just hired help. They are alumni of our 40-hour extrication programs. Our instructor curriculum philosophy is simple; you can't teach what you don't know yourself. Guest speakers/trainers have an expertise in specific areas of training and help enhance the quality of our programs. Extrication.Com has taught vehicle extrication at the basic, intermediate and advanced training skills to emergency responders from four continents and in the United States coast to coast and border to border. All Extrication.Com programs meet NFPA Standards in part, in whole or exceed the recommendations for FF II, 1006 and 1670 recommendations pertaining to motor vehicle extrication curriculum. Each Extrication.Com program receives full emergency medical technician (basic, intermediate and paramedic) credit hours as sanctioned by the MA OEMS. Our client agencies are unique, so are our programs that can be specifically tailored to fit the individual needs of the agencies that we serve. Some agencies have specific and unusual training needs not normally seen in the fire service, we can adjust to conform to those needs. Extrication.Com is at home working with fire, law enforcement, military and private agencies throughout the world. Our company has no geographical boundaries, we welcome the opportunity to work with you. When considering training consultants; Extrication.Com leads the way in extrication training by doing our own research and development while others copy, move out of our way and follow by our example. For years responders have been taught to make time consuming tasks that may not be necessary and will increase the total overall time to complete their mission during a rescue. Extrication.Com has taught responders to lower the national average time to displace a dash from 16-30 minutes down to a remarkable 4-6 minutes or less. Our techniques are fast being adopted around the world by the emergency services, including the military specialty groups. In 1999 Extrication.Com developed the extrication technique know as the "Modified Dash Roll ©" to cope with active side impact protection, vehicle under/over rides and rapid intervention for crash vehicles with a dashboard entrapment. Since then we have also developed other techniques that can be use for space making while avoiding active SIPS components. Among the company's accomplishments are being able to work with one of the world's leading automobile manufacturers assisting in the development of emergency response guide lines for innovative automobiles such as hybrid and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. On the day of "9-11" Extrication.Com started working with elite members from U.S. Department of Defense. We have a very unique working relationship and can develop specific training programs to assist DOD clients with special needs. We are the leaders in vehicle extrication training, we do our own research, and develop rescue techniques to match today's technology. Extrication.Com can Help!Extrication.Com offers the most informative classroom presentations available at three skills levels; basic, intermediate and advanced. Our skills levels are based on the following criteria:
Extrication.Com's practical advanced training scenarios are unique, often copied, but never really emulated. We don't just cut up prop vehicles for our practical sessions we utilize them to replicate surrealistic evolutions that you may encounter in the field. Extrication.Com teaches you about the vehicle: hazards, passive safety features, construction, typical stress points. With today's innovative vehicles we stress how to read the wreck using a quick visual scanning technique, properly stabilize, immobilize and disable the vehicles as required. In our more advanced programs we try to emulate surrealistic scenarios that cause the student to think beyond the entry skills level of training and work together as a well organized team. The complexity of our advanced programs are based on the local logistics available and overall student skills ability for that class. Our advanced students will be using all of their prior training skills to safely mitigate the relevant rescue scenarios not available to the basic skills program. Extrication.Com training programs meet or exceed nationally accepted extrication training curriculum for the desired skills level. The training also focuses on relevant techniques and procedures not currently included in recommendations for passenger vehicles, heavy trucks and bus extrication. We don't just cutting up the prop vehicles, this is not realistic extrication training. If your agency is looking for quality training with the best available instructors providing you with classroom and practical sessions second to none, we can help! We promise that when you walk away the end of practical training session, besides being tired, you'll be given a wealth of useful information and techniques that are relevant. If you sign up for our hands-on classes you should be in good health and expect to be tired at the end of the day. Everyone is equal in our program. While we respect rank, it is felt that a good officer can't know the limitations of their personnel unless they too have walked in their shoes. Those that want to take still photos may do so at the end of the practical session. We will allow staged photo sessions at the end of the practical for those that would like to take pictures. This is a liability issue and we do not want distractions while working with unforgiving heavy rescue tools and equipment. After completing our training programs followed by Extrication.Com's recommendations, your agency should be able to significantly reduce it's average overall vehicle extrication timed baseline to mitigate a rescue. We can assist your agency in establishing an on-going training program and/or departmental SOPs and/or SOGs for modern vehicle rescue. Latest Published Hybrid
