Portsmouth RI Police & Fire
Departments
Two Portsmouth RI municipal departments recently
combined forces for a joint training session. Lt. Steve Sullivan of the
Portsmouth RI Police Department felt there was a need for both police officers
and firefighters to learn about new vehicle innovations. Often police officers
are first on scene assisting patients and need to know about SRS, ROPS and
hybrid vehicles.
Extrication.Com provided two back to back 4-hours "Vehicle Extrication: New Vehicle Technology" programs for enabling on-duty and off-duty shifts to attend. Following each classroom segment the officers and firefighters where taught how to do Extrication.Com's Modified Dash Roll as seen below.

It was nice to see both police and fire departments learning about innovative systems that can pose a threat to the untrained.

While the Modified Dash Roll is not a catch all does everything technique, it is fast becoming more popular than the conventional dashboard displacement. With a little more practice the Portsmouth RI Fire Department will be able to master the technique within 4-6 minutes from starting their extrication tasks.
