The PyroBlanket’s patented blend of high-performance fibers provides true flame resistance for reliability in a fire emergency. It has been subjected to testing based on National Fire Protection Association methods that are used in certifying firemen’s turnout gear. When wrapped around a victim’s head and torso, the PyroBlanket provides protection against open flame, cutting torch sparks, flying glass, super-heated surfaces and intense heat.

The PyroBlanket is soft and lightweight, yet it is durable and well-constructed enough to be used as a stretcher in an emergency situation. No rescue vehicle should be without the PyroBlanket. Police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and life flight helicopters have all benefited from this unique safety tool.

Anywhere a fire emergency occurs, the PyroBlanket can help calm victims - keeping their body heat in and searing heat out. Professionally rated for high performance, the patented fabric of the PyroBlanket is engineered to protect individuals from open flame or super-heated environments. The PyroBlanket can give rescue teams the essential extra time needed to help victims out of harm's way.

The go anywhere EMS blanket

Police, Fire, EMS, Military, Homeowners, Schools, Hospitals, Ships, Weld/Cutting Shops, Aircraft, Commercial Kitchens, Restaurants

During our 2005 Toronto 40-hour Extrication Program students were introduced to the light weight PyroBlanket for patient coverage during glass remove and while cutting metal components. Students also came up with another use on their own; wrap or drape PyroBlanket over vehicle sharps for responder protection. I was so impressed with its qualities that I have incorporated the PyroBlanket in all our extrication programs. After the evolutions were over students simply shook the blanket to remove loose glass and debris and it was then ready for the washer for cleaning. Being so impressed I asked the manufacturer to allow Extrication.Com to sell the product; at Extrication.Com if we don't have faith in a product we don't sell it!

For a limited time book an Extrication.Com programs in 2006, use the PyroBlanket in the practical session and if you like it Extrication.Com will let you keep the PyroBlanket as our way of saying thank you for hosting the program.

Suggested list price $119.99, Extrication.Com's price $98.99 delivered any where in United States.

NATIONAL FIRE PROTECTION ASSOCIATION

Test 1: Thermal Protective Performance (TPP)
What it measures: Heat transfer through the fabric when exposed to conditions constituting an emergency fire-fighting situation. TPP value 2x provides time (in seconds) to second-degree burns.

Results: This test indicated the EMS PyroBlanket (10 oz.) has a TPP value of approximately 30. When folded or doubled over, the Pro series rated approximately 76. Exposure to the radiant/convective heat source only blackened the PyroBlanket’s test swatch … while the traditional fire retardant wool blanket flamed and melted away.

Conclusion: The PyroBlanket (10 oz.) delivers breakthrough performance in flame resistance and heat blocking.

Test 2: Heat and Thermal Shrinkage
What it measures: This test measure shinkage and areas of melting and ignition when the product is placed in a 500º F (260º C) chamber for 5 minutes … a sustained high-heat situation.

Results: The EMS PyroBlanket was slightly discolored with minor shrinkage. (The wool blanket smoked heavily, was blackened and virtually disintegrated when removed from the chamber.)

Conclusion: The PyroBlanket products have far surpassed the performance of the traditional wool rescue blanket.

Test 3: Vertical Flame Resistance
What it measures: This test measures the flame resistance of fire fighting apparel. A fabric swatch is exposed to a 1 1/2 inch high vertical flame for 12 seconds.

Results of the test are measured against standards set by the NFPA and include:

  1. amount of burn time after 12 seconds had elapsed.
  2. amount of glow time after 12 seconds had elapsed.
  3. char length of fabric.

Results:

The EMS PyroBlanket products also show no signs of melting or dripping during the testing.

Conclusion: Wool blanket burned furiously. PyroBlanket demonstrated superiority by refusing to support flame under any test conditions.

NORTH CARLONIA STATE UNIVERSITY PYRO-MAN TEST
A mannequin equipped with 122 sensors was wrapped in a PyroBlanket. It was then subjected to a series of 4-second exposures to flames with temperatures of 1000° F (538° C) in the Pyro-Man chamber. Results showed that the EMS PyroBlanket reduced projected burn injury to a point where a victim would likely survive these extreme and often fatal conditions.

PyroBlanket is made from a special patented blend of high-performance fibers. The PyroBlanket has been thoroughly tested to the standards of the National Fire Protection Association, which also certifies firemen’s protective gear. Unique properties provide true flame resistance for reliability in a home fire emergency.

Lightweight and easy to store, yet durable enough to be used as a stretcher for an injured person. PyroBlanket is as soft as a normal blanket, soft enough to be used in a crib to keep your child safe and warm. PyroBlanket gives you valuable time to respond to a sudden fire in your home and get your family to safety. If a fire should start in your home, PyroBlanket could mean the difference between life and death.

The PyroBlanket’s patented fabric blend will emit no toxic fumes when exposed to flames. It extinguishes flames by depriving them of oxygen while allowing hot vapors to escape through its patented breathable fabric. Fire may discolor the fabric, but the PyroBlanket will not burn. It is both washable and reusable.

PyroBlanket’s heat blocking capability sets it apart from other fire protection blankets. It keeps out the searing heat, providing more protection from contact burns anywhere skin might come in contact with flames or hot surfaces. The PyroBlanket simply will not burn.
